My story begins in Spain, in the warm kitchen of my grandmother, where family traditions weren’t just occasional practices—they were woven into the fabric of our daily lives. I have vivid memories of standing beside her as she crafted authentic Castile soaps using pure olive oil, a tradition that originated in the Castilla region of Spain centuries ago. Working alongside my grandmother, I learned that true Castile soap—a Spanish invention dating back to the 12th century—was more than just a cleansing product. Two Angels Named Oscar
As I navigated this journey of discovery and growth, I carried with me the memory of two very special souls, both named Oscar, who had taught me profound lessons about love, legacy, and the precious nature of creating something meaningful with our lives.
The first Oscar was a dear classmate from my teenage years in Spain. I remember one beautiful evening, around the age of 16, when we were all meeting after school as we usually did—talking, playing, sharing dreams together. I was delighted to see Oscar, whom I hadn’t seen for a while. We had such a wonderful evening, and when he told us he would join us regularly from now on, I felt genuinely excited about our renewed friendship. Tragically, Oscar’s life was cut short in an accident just days later. That last day I saw him—filled with laughter, dreams, and the joy of friendship—is treasured in my memory until today. His vibrant spirit taught me that every moment matters and every connection is precious.
Years later, when I was living in Ireland developing what would become Ossie Naturals, I had a beautiful companion in my life—a cat from Spain, whom I named Oscar, in memory of my friend. Oscar became my soulmate in a way that only animal lovers can understand. He was like my own child, my constant companion, always with me. We lived peacefully on our own land, surrounded by animals and nature, just as I had grown up in Spain. Animals have always been family to me, cherished members of our lives.
When my Oscar passed away, it was deeply moving. But in that profound experience, I realised something beautiful: the more we honour and care for ourselves, the richer and more meaningful our lives become. This extends to how we care for our loved ones—whether they’re human or the animals who share our hearts. It inspired me to treasure every moment and to commit to creating something beautiful that honours both our well-being and our relationships with those we love.
The Meaning Behind the Name
When it came time to name my brand, there was only one choice that felt right: Ossie. It comes from Oscar, honouring both my dear friend and my beloved companion, but the name itself has beautiful meanings that perfectly capture what this brand represents.
Ossie has Irish origins—fitting, as this brand was born in Ireland—and it means “deer lover,” “friend of the deer,” “spear of the gods,” “divine power,” and “divine protection.” These meanings speak to my deep love for the natural world, my respect for all living beings, and my belief that we can provide exceptional care for our skin through premium, natural ingredients and thoughtful formulation.
Together, my father’s health journey that deepened my understanding of skin wellness, my grandmother’s timeless wisdom about natural care, and my two beloved Oscars who taught me about love and legacy, created the foundation for what Ossie Naturals represents: a profound respect for skin health, an understanding of how precious our well-being is, and a commitment to caring for ourselves and others with the same love and excellence we would offer our dearest family members.

I learned through experience that ‘natural’ doesn’t always mean ‘perfect’ when one experimental formula proved too potent for daily use! But my determination to create exceptional skincare and to honor everything I had learned from those I loved kept me passionate and focused.
